Print resources

  • A good starting point are the encylopedia in the A.R. Adams library central reference desk.
  • Current social issues booklets – these are a collection of current newspaper articles in the reference desk.
  • Current enviromental issues booklets – these are a collection of current newspaper articles in the reference desk.
  • Issues in society books. These can be found in a tub in the library office.
  • Non-fiction books

Use the library catalogue to find books related to your topic.

 

On-line resources

Echoeducation provides informative outlines on issues in the media from newspapers, television and internet resources.

Log in by clicking on the rocking owl. Contact Mrs Russell for password and search as outlined below:

Media issues outlines – Click on the year, this will give you a list of media issues from that year. Click on issue required, this will take you to  the main page of the issue and a brief description.  Use the tabs at the top of the page for background information, arguments for and against and a list of further links.

Echo newspaper index – click on year, enter words into search box to find articles.  Highlight and copy the name of article required (usually the headline). Open a google search page, paste the copied name in the search box. This should bring up a link to the article and other related articles.

News and information links –  provides links to newspapers around Australia and the world, Wikipedia and the CIA factbook.

 

The Conversation is an online newspaper where you can search current and archived issues. Place your search term in the search box, top right hand corner.

 

Wikipedia can give you an outline of your topic but remember that not all information found here is totally accurate. It is best to check details with another source.

 

You could also become the member of a public library (just sign up online) to have access to online newspaper, magazine and journal articles.

State Library of Victoria  click on register at top of page to take you to library sign up form.

Wimmera Regional Library  you need to be 18 to join online. Call into any of the branches or mobile library to join up.

Goldfields Library Corporation you need to be 18 to join online but can sign up at Bendigo or any of their other branches.
